Some people would say she was the ideal woman…She had flawless makeup, stylish hair, and always wore the most current fashionable clothing that looked made for her. She never gained an ounce and had the perfect figure. She was always smiling and never got angry or upset. She never uttered a sarcastic word – in fact, she was very mild and quiet, yet still had a constant air of poise and self-assurance. She was very comfortable in a crowd of admiring onlookers, but also equally comfortable all by herself. Other women might envy her and her ideal attributes – but before you start feeling some envy, too, it’s important for you to know that she is... (scroll down to find out!)

...ONLY A MANNEQUIN!

Look around you…because most of the people you see are also like mannequins. They may be physically alive, but inside they are spiritually dead! They have nothing inside them that truly matters beyond this material world. Every one of us was born physically alive, but spiritually dead. Ever since our original earthly parents, Adam and Eve, sinned in rebellion against God, every person that has ever been born has been dead spiritually and separated from God, as surely as Adam and Eve were physically separated from fellowship with God in the Garden of Eden.

Everyone realizes they are spiritually dead – and most will do many things to try to feed this spiritual hunger – often in material ways such as with food, possessions, money and so on. Many will turn to false religions to feed their spiritual hunger – only to find themselves continually empty or deceptively mal-nourished with "junk food".

There is only One Person who can fulfill and restore us spiritually. He explained this to the Samaritan woman at the well:

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14)

His offer is to everyone:

“Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. This spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive.” (John 7:37-39)

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.” (Revelations 21:6)

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” (Revelations 22:17)

The only source of true spiritual life, is the One who made everything and everyone. If you turn away from Him, you are like a mannequin who tries to eat – your efforts at filling yourself spiritually are futile at best – and you are still left with an empty shell, incapable of true spiritual life.

“For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.” (Jeremiah 2:13)

There is also a serious danger – if you do not trust in the One who can make you spiritually alive, you risk spending eternity separated from Him. My prayer is that you will search for and turn to Jesus – you can find Him when you read your Bible.
